Ranking data is a common task in analysis, used to understand the order and priority of items in a list. Whether you're ranking sales performance, student scores, or product ratings, our Value Ranker tool simplifies the process. It adds a new "Rank" column to your dataset, assigning a numerical rank to each row based on the column you choose.

How It Works

Upload your CSV, JSON, or Excel file. The tool automatically identifies all numeric columns available for ranking. Select the column you want to rank by and choose whether to sort in ascending (lowest value gets rank 1) or descending (highest value gets rank 1) order. The tool calculates a "dense rank," meaning items with the same value receive the same rank, and the next rank is incremented by one.

How to Use the Value Ranker

  1. Step 1: Upload Your Data
    Load your dataset using the "Upload" button. Sample data is provided for a quick start.
  2. Step 2: Select Column and Direction
    Choose the numeric column you want to rank from the dropdown menu. Then, select either "Ascending" or "Descending" rank order.
  3. Step 3: Calculate Ranks
    Click the "Calculate Ranks" button. The table will update with a new "Rank" column.
  4. Step 4: Download Your Results
    Click "Download CSV" to save the ranked data.
